September 2020 Favourites

There is a brief mention of sexual assault in this post. Though nothing graphic is said, I thought it would be a good idea to give a little warning beforehand. Keep yourselves safe x * So September was basically nothing. It didn't feel like a month no matter how much I tried to journal or keep up with the news. Just one big mush where nothing happened. Even in terms of posting here, I fell in and out of a depression, meaning it took a full month for me to research and write up a post regarding J.K. Rowling , which, fun fact, originally wasn't even going to be about her. I was planning on just writing about hero worship in general and criticise people who use separating the art from the artist as a way to alleviate their own guilt. J.K. Rowling just kept popping up in the news, on Twitter, in my YouTube recommendations. I couldn't not talk about her.  I am very proud of that post. How it came out made me sound all smart and stuff. The amount of work I put it was reflected in...

August 2020 Favourites

I'm posting this a bit after the end of August because I wanted to end the month with my birthday post. This month has gone extremely quickly. Then again, I do feel like I completely forgot what the start of this month even felt like. I looked at my Letterboxd diary and remembered just how many films I watched this month, ones that I remember watching but felt like I had watched ages ago. A lot of research went into my post discussing whether reading classic literature is important for modern readers and I'm glad of how it turned out. I also posted a poem to my blog for the first time. One thing I can say has been my favourite this month is how into writing I've been.  I set up my Ko-fi so that I could maybe feel like this was work and not something I'm wasting my ...

July 2020 Favourites

I really enjoy watching monthly favourite videos so I thought I'd do the blogging equivalent. I've spent a lot of time eating art this month so I have had to narrow down my choices to stuff that I have a lot to say about Music The biggest item on this list regarding music is the fact that I spontaneously bought a record player, which I'm considering an early birthday present to myself.  The main reason I even decided to do this was because I spontaneously bought Orla Gartland's vinyl record (pic and link) with both of her most recent EPs on it. I love Orla's music so much and I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to physically own her music.  This sparked a desire to build a physical music collection. I'm very excited to be able to play music without using the internet. I've spent a good chunk of the end of this month listening to Why Am I Like This? and Freckle Season on repeat. I am unsure how much damage is done to vinyls by doing this. Will h...
